Student Resources

  • The school's dress code is established to promote appropriate grooming and hygiene, prevent disruption and avoid safety hazards.  Modesty should be the guide for school clothes.

Students who represent the school in a voluntary activity may be required to meet additional dress and grooming standards and may be denied the opportunity to participate if those standards are not met.  Students should be appropriately dressed to go outside when needed for recess or PE.

    Examples of inappropriate clothing are:

    • Visible undergarments
    • Clothing with words or logos with alcohol, tobacco products, drugs, vulgarity, violence, bigotry, or sexual connotations, or that contain double meanings about the above listed items.
    • Chains attached to belts, wallets, or pant loops.
    • Crop tops or any top that shows a bare midriff or exposes undergarments.
    • Low cut shirts, sweaters, blouses, or tank tops.
    • Spandex or compression shorts (unless worn under a long skirt, shirt or dress).
    • Tight leggings or yoga pants unless under a long skirt, shirt or dress.
    • Mini-skirts and shorts above the student’s finger-tips with hands at their sides.
    • Tank tops with shoulder straps less than two inches wide, no spaghetti straps or racerbacks.
    • Clothing that creates a safety hazard (i.e. oversized “saggy” pants which prevent students from safely using stairs and exiting the building quickly during an emergency).  Pants should fit at the waist with no underwear showing.  If a belt is worn, it must be worn through all belt loops and not hanging below the waist.  Overall straps must be worn over the shoulders and not left hanging below the waist.

***Dress code enforcement is subjective which means if a school employee feels a student is in violation of the dress code the student will be asked to change clothing, turn a shirt inside out or to cover up with some other article of clothing.  Students who do not cooperate will be sent to the office which may result in disciplinary consequences.
